At Applewood Our House, Applewood Tails & Tales is our signature engagement program that celebrates connection, curiosity, and companionship — inspired by our beloved house dogs, the engagement team and the wonderful stories that live in every resident’s heart.
Through Tails & Tales, we bring joy to each day with meaningful experiences big and small:
🚌 Adventures Beyond the House
A quiet lake for a simple cast, a lazy loop through gold aspens, a stop for cider and pumpkins. There are sandwiches wrapped and ready to eat, and a driver who knows the scenic route.
Fresh air, easy laughs, and a postcard view around every corner. Colorado shows off; our residents take it in.
🎨 Creativity & Play at Home
Craft days turn into laughter days. The living room becomes a studio. There’s paper, scissors, a little glitter, and the patio is for music and cards.
Stories pop up between turns, and someone always laughs first. markers in a mug, a puzzle half-done, and records spinning low. We make, we play, we tease each other kindly, and the house feels happy.
💬 Stories & Friendships
We sit and listen about how she met her sweetheart, the garden he kept, the song that always gets toes tapping. We tuck those details into everyday moments so the day feels like theirs.
Names of grandkids, the quilt she made, the ball team he won’t miss—we remember. And we bring it up at the right time, so every chat and activity feels familiar and kind.

Our Applewood house dogs are always ready to lend a paw, bringing warmth and comfort that words can’t match.
Morning check-ins start with a nuzzle and a wag. They sit for stories, walk beside wheelchairs, and pause like they understand every word.
He makes his rounds like a good neighbor. There’s a nose bump, slow lean, and a sigh at your feet. No speeches. Just quiet company that settles the room.
