We’re bringing something truly special and deeply meaningful to our community — a Wind Phone, created as a gentle space for comfort, reflection, and connection.
The idea of the Wind Phone began in Japan, created by a man named Itaru Sasaki after the loss of a beloved family member. He placed an unconnected phone booth in his garden so he could “speak” to the one he missed. After the 2011 tsunami, thousands of people visited his Wind Phone, finding solace in sharing words, memories, and love that still lived inside them. Since then, Wind Phones have appeared around the world as symbols of healing and remembrance. Please take a look as there are many all over the world… Wind Phone Website
For so many of us, grief doesn’t follow a timeline. Whether you are a family currently walking beside a loved one, a past family who entrusted us with someone precious, or a neighbor who has experienced loss in your own life, our Wind Phone is here for you. It offers a quiet place to speak from the heart — to say the words we still carry, to honor memories, or to simply sit and feel connected once more.
The phone is not about being answered — it is about being heard.
We hope this space brings comfort to anyone who needs it, and serves as a reminder that love continues, that grief is welcome here, and that our community holds one another with deep care and understanding.
Thank you for being part of the Applewood family. Your stories, your loved ones, and your journeys continue to matter to us, always.
