The team at Applewood Our House makes a conscious effort to fulfill the life of each resident, whether that means sitting with residents and listening to their stories, or encouraging them to set the table and participate in the various inner-workings of the home. The Denver Zoo
Residents use this day trip as the perfect opportunity to get outside, experience the beautiful Colorado weather, interact with a wide variety of animals, and participate in various activities.
Wings Over the Rockies
Residents are always wowed when they travel to this air and space museum. They are educated and inspired by aviation adventures of the past, present, and future.
Calvin Weatherall – The Hat Man
Calvin Weatherall – The Hat Man is an entertainer and a passionate teacher of music. Our residents look forward to monthly visits from Calvin. During his visits, residents can join in on the fun, sing along, and be genuinely entertained. Calvin enjoys teaching students of all ages and his patience knows no bounds.
Bowling Outings
Every Sunday evening is spent at the bowling alley for those who wish to participate. Our residents enjoy spending their Sunday evenings reliving one of their favorite pastimes and getting out of the house!
Shopping Outings
Residents enjoy venturing to places such as the Dollar Store, checking out all the fun things it has to offer, and purchasing something that catches their eye.
Annual Harvest Festival
The Applewood Our House Harvest Festival is an annual celebration to honor food grown and harvested on our land. We decorate our homes and yards and assemble baskets full of local vegetables and fruits. Residents and their families help harvest crops and enjoy the last days of fall together.
Thanksgiving
Every year, each home hosts their own Thanksgiving feast. Residents enjoy a great, traditional meal prepared by our wonderful team members.
Holiday Christmas Choirs
Each holiday season, Applewood Our House homes welcome local choirs to come and help residents celebrate the holiday season. Residents are welcome to sing along and participate however they wish.
Botanic Gardens
Residents thoroughly enjoy getting outside and taking in the calming and beautiful environment that the Botanic Gardens has to offer.
Tiny Town
Perfect for a day trip, residents love getting out of Denver and reliving their youth at Tiny Town!
Train Museum
Residents love this hands-on museum. There, they are able to check out and learn about all of the different train models from year to year.
Picnics in the Park
At Applewood Our House, we strive to get our residents outside to enjoy the beautiful Colorado weather as often as possible, sometimes by having a picnic in a nearby park.
Circus Outing
We never miss the circus when it’s in town! Residents look forward to the circus as an exhilarating and youthful outing. With constant entertainment, animal interaction, and amazing performers, residents are never disappointed after visiting the circus.
Fishing Outing
Each summer, we take our residents to a nearby fishing pond and allow them to catch their own fish! Residents have the best time and feel fulfilled while practicing this sport on their own.
