Assisted Living South Lakewood Reviews

My mother moved to Applewood Our House in September 2024. The dog Dolly was a selling point and the entire philosophy of the "old dog"... Sadly my mother experienced a fast decline from independence to assisted living to memory care in what I will call "turbo Parkinsons". The personalized attention and care plans that AOH set forth were impressive. Also in paying attention to how the other residents were cared for helped to show me that my Mom would be in good hands. My regret is that I didnt find AOH sooner, she spent 3months at a facility which was not a fit and she declined. On the night that my momma passed away, the house dog, Dolly went into her room to sit vigil with her until she passed and then also stayed by her side until coroner came. My MomCat was my first best friend, am still not sure how this world looks without her in it.

I love recommending my clients to Applewood. I do Senior Placements and I work with all the memory care places in the Denver metro area. Applewood never disappoints me or my clients. Their care is fantastic. I highly recommend them!
The knowledge, Dementia & Parkinson's specialized and patient-centered care at Applewood Our House is exceptional. They are always looking for new and creative ways to engage and connect with the residents and individuals are definately considered family once they become residents at their communities! Thank you for all you do!!
I cannot say enough good things about this company and the amazing staff. While my mother wasn't a resident for very long, she received loving and attentive care. The staff were incredibly kind and respectful to our family and the situation. They let us stay with her overnight when she was nearing the end. All the caregivers truly showed compassion and care for my mother and all of us during a very hard time. They are wonderful, and everyone who is a part of Applewood is genuinely the best! We are incredibly grateful for them and I would recommend this company to anyone looking for memory care for their loved one.
A really great facility with a very appropriate, roomy, open, bright and airy floor plan. The staff is very kind and attentive to my elderly mother’s needs. The new facility supervisor Rebecca is very responsive, kind , compassionate and answers my questions immediately. Angelita is always enthusiastic and cheerful and provides care with a loving touch. I am happy that my mother is at Applewood Our House Van Gordon.
Applewood Our House is the perfect fit for our loved one's care. It has a small capacity with a dedicated, caring staff. There are numerous organized activities and plenty of room both inside and outside for individual activities for those who desire.

Destiny is so awesome. Always very helpful!
My father moved to Applewood last May and thanks to their good care his Parkinson’s symptoms have become less severe. All staff members are conscientious and kind, particularly Destiny and Angelita, who patiently listen to his stories and laugh at his corny humor.
My mother has been at Applewood Our House IV for 2.5 years. While there has been frequent staff turnover, every single caregiver has been kind and gentle. The house is clean, bright, and welcoming. The dog adds an additional home-like feel. Lots of activities and outings for the residents (and family if they can go) but no pressure to do anything they don't want to do. Mom's never complained about the food which seems appealing with lots of variety. I visit Mom weekly and while she is not always out of bed (her choice), she is always clean and in clean clothes or nightgown.

FAQ

Here are a few common questions asked about assisted living and memory care. Click on each question below to see the answers.

Why do seniors with dementia fall?

There are many reasons why seniors with dementia fall. Some of these reasons can be preventable if the proper steps are taken.

People with dementia have problems with their balance. Their muscle strength isn’t the same as it once was, and sometimes, they cannot move around very well. Due to memory loss, places are often not familiar, and this can cause confusion and uncertainty.

Professional caregivers take extra precautions against falling. A single fall could cause seniors with dementia to lose mobility and reduce their quality of life.
