My father has been at Applewood for about 8 months, it is better than we could of prayed for. He is more loved, cared for and safe than we could have hoped for. The staff are absolutely amazing, true angels take of care him.
Our family member who had been residing at Applewood Our House #5 passed away today. I can’t say enough about how the staff and facility were far and beyond what we could have expected. We were navigating uncharted water and the staff were compassionate and fully engaged. We never felt that our family member was just being managed; In fact, we observed that she was truly being CARED for. Because of this, our family member lived out her days with dignity and kindness. We are so thankful for Applewood Our House #5, Carrie, Raven and the rest of the staff for ushering us through a highly emotional and difficult stage of life. Thank you Applewood #5!
A very nice property and caring staff for elderly residents focused on enrichment and making the days enjoyable. The facility is bright and cheerful inside and has outdoor access into a courtyard.
The staff is exceptional. They are professional as well as caring. Many times I have seen them hugging a resident and telling them that they love them. They are always willing to help be it here or in my case advice about various subject matter as I am now alone at home The facility is beautiful always iclean and orderly. I could not have found a better place for my Catty to be cared for.
Today was an amazing day! House 5 went on the 2022 annual fishing trip. Hanna, Lisa, Norma, Ally and Sherrie Bonham were wonderful! This house and all the caregivers truly are amazing and so thankful for them. Mom and I are truly blessed. Thank you house 5 for all that you do and making the magic happen.
Amber has been amazing from what I can see when I come in and out to see my patients. She is always polite and nice to me as well as other home care nurses that come in and go.
My mom has been a resident at Applewood Our House in Arvada for almost a year. We have been so happy with every aspect of her care. I want to especially thank Amber Swan for her loving heart and special attention that she gives my mom. It means so much to my mom and makes me happy knowing she's being cared for in such a special way! Thank you all for your hard work and caring hearts!
I feel so confident that my mom is receiving excellent care at Applewood Our House. The House Manager, Alaina, and all the staff there, work to make sure her needs are met. A shout out to Amber S. and Rosio, Hannah, and Sophia and all the others who stick by her when times get challenging! Thank you!
Applewood is a wonderful place. I can't say enough good about the staff, the nurse, everyone. My father was only there for two months but, after shutting himself off from the world for 6 years, he was as happy as I had ever seen him in that time. I can't recommend Applewood Our House enough.
Applewood Our House North Arvada was great with my mother. She moved in July, 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic because of wandering from her Assisted Living facility. Mom was so happy at her new memory care home. She was well cared for by Nina, Melissa, Becky, and Cory. She had numerous caregivers that would paint with her, engage her in playing with cards, do her nails, cut her hair and walk with her in the courtyard. Although I was never able to go into the facility while mom was there, I felt the community of the caregiving whenever I had a patio visit or window visit. Catharine even learned how to play the piano with one of the residents. She was always happy and smiling when I saw her. I really appreciate the care that was given to my mom and how careful they were in sanitizing the facility daily during the Covid-19 pandemic. Applewood Our House North Arvada had been able to reduce the isolation of their residents with dementia with the great room experience and the community of the residents. I highly recommend this facility for loved ones who need memory care. It is safe, secure and a loving environment.
I can not believe how incredible care has been for my parents at Applewood Our House, North Arvada. My Dad passed a year 1/2 ago and the support for my family and my Mom that remains there is incredible. The care takers and house manager are there to keep the residents safe and give them the best life that they can live I their situation. If you need memory care for a loved one, I wouldn’t go anywhere else except the Applewood Our House organization.
My husband moved to Applewood Our House from a nursing home. He started smiling again and looks so relaxed. The quiet atmosphere has given back quality to his life. He can walk outside without setting off alarms. The staff is consistent and very caring. He truly thinks that he is home.

FAQ

How do you know when it's time for memory care?

Many people struggle with the decision to include memory care for a family member. If your loved one has cognitive decline, they will eventually need some assistance to ensure their safety.

Some of the challenges to dealing with memory care for dementia and Alzheimer’s can be difficult to handle in an assisted living facility or at home.

Memory loss happens gradually over a more extended period. If your loved one has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia and their mental and physical health is declining, it’s time to request help.

The best time to start looking for memory care is before your loved one needs it. Have a plan in place when you begin noticing changes.

End-stage dementia, or late-stage dementia, brings challenges for family members and other caregivers. After perhaps years of gradual memory decline, your loved one’s life is nearing the end. During this time, family members should already have a plan to determine the quality of life care their loved one should receive.

During end-stage dementia, seniors might lose the ability to speak and move around on their own. They might also experience difficulty in swallowing food. Therefore, talk to your loved one early on to honor their wishes for end of life care.
