Meet Our Resident House Dogs!
We’re excited to share with you the furry companions that bring so much joy and comfort to our memory care residents across our five memory care homes in Golden, Arvada, and Lakewood, Colorado.
Recently, amidst the laughter and love that fills Applewood Our House, Cocoa celebrated a birthday, a milestone that marks not only the passage of time but also the strength of the bond he shares with his human family.
The brown Lab from Golden, strides with grace. Since his arrival on Thanksgiving of 2021, he has filled the halls with a quiet sense of belonging, a bond that transcends words.
Born anew through the love of Mile High Lab Rescue, his presence a testament to the gratitude and affection shared by all.
She’s part Lab and part guardian angel. She stands proudly among her cherished family. Rescued in August of 2018 by the Evergreen Animal Protective League, she has woven her love into the very fabric of the home.
Her heart beats in time with those around her, a living embodiment of the unbreakable bonds forged between humans and their faithful companions. She loves nothing more than snuggling up with her favorite resident.
This gentle black Lab moves with a sense of serenity. She arrived in November of 2022, a gift from the Mile High Lab Rescue, and ever since, she has been a source of comfort for the residents of her adopted home.
Her eyes, deep and soulful, bear the weight of countless stories. Everyone respects Etta’s calm demeanor throughout Applewood Our House. She’s a constant reminder that love and understanding can heal even the spirits of our residents, family members, and staff.
Dory’s a beautiful Lab with boundless love. Applewood Our House received her in December of 2019. She is a beacon of hope from the Good Dog Rescue.
With an unwavering loyalty, she makes every resident feel as if she were their very own, a companion to share in life’s many journeys. Her days are filled with greeting residents and receiving heartfelt hugs. She guides new residents on their journey through the home.
Dory’s presence shows that love, above all else, is the force that binds us together.
Sadie has been a treasure and steadfast companion since her arrival in February of 2019.
Her presence marked the opening of our fifth Applewood Our House. Like her canine brethren, she has brought light and love to the home. Her gentle gaze and warm heart are a blessing to the residents and staff who care for her. She’s a living testament to the power of rescue and love.
All of our dogs have been rescued since 2011 when we opened our first home. Our current dogs are wonderful with our residents and they love having a home with a house dog to care for and love.
All of our resident house dogs receive special training and love from our staff to ensure they provide the best possible care and companionship to our residents.
We believe that our furry friends play an important role in our residents’ emotional and mental wellbeing and we’re grateful for the joy they bring to our community.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know our resident house dogs. We hope you’ll come visit us soon and meet these furry companions in person!
